WHY BUCKALOPE ELEMENTARY?
Today’s public education systems are struggling. Research has shown a lack of emphasis on character building as well as planting the seeds of career interest and information in elementary level education, specifically kindergarten through third grades.
Buckalope Elementary was created to be a fun, relatable school environment with puppet students and teachers and engaging stories and songs. Focusing on character traits and career possibilities in this way sets the stage early on in students who then move forward on a more positive educational and life journey.
MEET THE CREATORS:
Sandy Rakich
Sandy had been working for over 10 years in the Los Angeles Unified School District as a teacher and counselor and is working on her Ph.D. in Education. She is currently working as an assistant principle for a public high school in Los Angeles. Sandy created Exclusive Education, Inc., a non-profit company – the primary focus to keep the student / counselor dialog active. Jimmy Mastandrea
Jimmy has been in the music business for over 20 years as a producer and executive for a major record label. About 5 years ago he began making personalized puppets for his friend’s children. The amazing response he received inspired him to bring these puppets to life. He created Furry Friends Productions to bring his love of children, songwriting and storytelling to a wider audience.
Together, Sandy and Jim created Buckalope Elementary – the perfect compliment of their combined experiences along with their passion for a child’s journey from young student to thriving and inspired members of society .
